Lower Your Blood Pressure Naturally With a Smile

I feel like I'm always making this disclaimer, but here it is again; all of us with high blood pressure should follow our doctor's orders to the tee! There is no doubt about it, those who has been prescribed medication for hypertension should follow that prescription exactly as directed. Even those who are not on medication but are suspected of having high blood pressure should go back for regular checkups to keep an eye on their blood pressure.

Still, having had high blood pressure for over 25 years and now, in recent years having the best blood pressure readings I've ever had, I feel I could give some advice that might help some people get a better handle on their hypertension. So once again, here comes another disclaimer, I'm going to tell you one method that is probably not MDA approved but has worked wonders for me.

Healing Through Laughter

You've probably read in Reader's Digest that laughter is the best medicine. Well, the medical community may have an argument with this hypothesis, but I'll bet there are a lot of doctors who will tell you attitude plays a role in most medical issues; certainly high blood pressure.

I also remember an article, I even believe it was a book about a man who had cancer back in the days when cancer was hardly ever cured. This man had his own peculiar way of augmenting his medical treatments and when he reached remission he gave thanks to one group of guys he thought were very instrumental in helping him overcome the cancer. Who were these guys? None other than the Marx Brothers!

I'm not saying anyone with high blood pressure should go buy a copy of the old movie"Duck Soup" and be done with it, what I am saying is this guy firmly believed laughter helped him fight off cancer.

Compounding Your Misery

There's only so much in life you can do about anything. Trying too hard to overcome any situation, such as being behind on the bills or having a you-know-what for a boss, can only make matters worse. The best thing you can do when dealing with your boss or your financial situation for that matter, is use a little levity.

I start my day by reading a joke of the day. I listen for new jokes and tell them when I have a chance. This is quite a change for me. I used to take everything so seriously and try, try, try to do my best all day long. I still try to do my best but now I try to do it with a sense of humor.

Losing Control On Purpose

I always wanted to be in control of every situation. I'll bet this was really good for my blood pressure, huh? Well, I've given up! That's right I've lost control on purpose. If life wants to deal me a bad hand, so be it. I'll just figure out a joke to tell about it and then most times I'll feel better.

Yes I was once a control freak and my blood pressure was 170/110. I was taking medication and though it helped, my blood pressure readings were erratic. Now, I use relaxation techniques in my leisure time. Actually, it's even a change of lifestyle that I do have some leisure time now. But the real point is, I no longer try to fight my way through life because I accept there will be some down days and I've resigned myself to the fact this is the way life is.

I Never Felt Better

Oh, by the way, my blood pressures is now usually around, 132/72. So, what else can I say? I followed my doctor's orders right along. If I hadn't, I wouldn't be writing this article now because I'd be dead. However, on top of that, I've made some changes to the way I think. Now, I think life is great, it has a lot to offer me, and even though everything can't be great all the time, I now know it's better to surrender to these bad times. And the point of all this is; I've never felt better and I've never done better!

I hope all this helps. But by all means, keep on doing what the doctor says, then have a real good laugh, on me.

Blood PC bold intro, aftermost akin and ending

Played on DOSBox-0.70 This game was so awesome for many reasons. First, it had an amazing choice of weapons including the voodoo doll and 3 types of TNT. Good graphics for its time and a scary assortment of music. Good levels including a carnival full of surprises. Great enemies including the hand that grabbed your face. Kicking the heads of your enemies after you killed them made it all the more fun. The story is unique, because we are told Caleb is not our typical hero, but he's a hired gun-slinger, who fell in love with a woman, joined a dark cult, Cabal. But, he's betrayed and killed by the god of the cult, Tchernobog. So, he comes back rising from the grave with the infamous words, "I live.. again" to take revenge and eliminate all the members of the cult.

Dundee & Tayside - Tuesday, November 30, 2010

Blood donors are being urged to roll up their sleeves as the severe weather and festive party season threaten supplies. Dozens of donor sessions have been cancelled in Tayside this week.... just as the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service makes its annual winter appeal. A ward at Dundee's Ninewells Hospital has been closed to new admissions following several cases of what's thought to be the winter vomiting bug. The closure of Ward 6 to new patients is a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the Norovirus bug. A flood awareness campaign targetting 15000 homes and businesses has been launched in Tayside and Fife. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency is encouraging those who're living or working in " at risk " areas to be aware of how flooding might affect them. They also want people to make sure they know what action they need to take to protect themselves and their property.

Blood Clots From Leg Injuries

Blood clots are a natural part of the body's healing process. They prevent you from bleeding out, allow broken bones to heal, and help you repair broken blood vessels. Frustratingly, though, if a blood clot grows too large or does not dissolve properly, it can cause serious health problems like deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism. Even minor leg injuries can increase your risk of these ailments.

When you suffer from an injury, special cells in the blood called platelets form the initial patch. Platelets then release chemicals that summon other clotting factors, such as a strong protein called fibrin. After the body has had a chance to heal whatever damage occurred, it is supposed to naturally dissolve the clot.

Sometimes, though, a clot may remain in your body without getting dissolved. This is especially a risk after leg injuries that prevent you from moving your legs very well, such as a broken bone. Movement helps dissolve the clot, so if your leg is stuck in a cast or if you are wheelchair-bound, you may not be able to help the clot dissolve. If it remains in your leg, it can cause a condition called deep vein thrombosis, where it blocks the blood supply to your leg.

The more frightening risk, however, is a pulmonary embolism. If the clot breaks free from your leg, it can get pumped to the lungs, where millions of microscopic blood vessels exchange carbon dioxide waste for fresh oxygen. Because the clot clogs the vessels in a portion of the lungs, this affected area of the lung tissue can die during a pulmonary embolism.

Frighteningly, recent studies have found that even minor injuries such as ankle sprains can increase your chances of dangerous blood clots. A study performed in the Netherlands found that over 11% of patients diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism had suffered a leg injury in the previous three months.

Frustratingly, leg injuries are common, and they can occur in anything from car accidents to slips and falls. If your leg injury is the result of another person or party's negligence, you should fight back against this recklessness. To discuss your case, contact an experienced Baltimore injury attorney from Belsky, Weinberg & Horowitz, LLC, today.

Blood in Dog Urine

Seeing blood in your dog's urine can be very alarming. It is not normal for dogs to have blood in their urine. Therefore, when your dog starts peeing blood there must be something really wrong with him.

Blood in dog urine can be caused by a number of reasons. These causes include bladder infection, urinary tract infection, prostate gland infection, tick infestation, poisoning or chemical intoxication, kidney or bladder stones, prostate gland infection, internal injuries, and cancer. As you can see, the causes of dog urinating blood are medical conditions which require immediate attention. Therefore, when you notice blood in your dog's urine, the best thing to do is to take it to the veterinarian.

Typically, blood in dog's urine comes with other symptoms such as straining to urinate, constant howling while urinating, constant licking of the genital area, producing only small amounts of urine or no urine at all. The dog's constant howling especially when urinating and its constant licking of its genital area signals the presence of pain. When the dog starts to urinate with blood in it, it may be a sign that whatever is causing it has gone to its advanced stage. This can be alarming because this can mean that your dog is in great danger.

When you take the dog to the vet, the vet may perform a series of physical and laboratory tests to determine the cause of the problem. Once the vet has made a proper diagnosis, he can then perform the exact treatment to the dog. Depending on the cause of the presence of blood, the vet may prescribe medicines to stop the symptoms or he may perform surgery and other medical procedures. He may also advice a change in the dog's diet.

It is important that you follow the instructions and advice given by the veterinarian. His words may mean life and death for your dog. Once your dog is ready to go back home and recuperate, you can then give him other forms of treatment which may help in the faster healing of his condition and in preventing a recurrence of the disease. But again, it is important that you consult the vet first.

A great way to help treat bloody urine in dogs and fighting against recurrences of the disease is to give your dog homeopathic remedies. Homeopathic remedies can be administered at home. According to statistics, homeopathic remedies have proven their worth in treating urinary diseases in dogs including blood in urine. Most dog owners have used homeopathic remedies in their pets. Not all homeopathic remedies, though, may show improvements in dogs. That is why you need to carefully choose the right homeopathic remedies for your dog. It is recommended that you buy homeopathic remedies which contain uva ursi, berberis vulgaris, staphysagris, and cantharis. These ingredients have properties which can help strengthen your dog's immune system and boost your dog's overall and general health.

A dog is like a baby. It needs our proper care. We wouldn't want our dog to suffer from any diseases. When you see blood in your dog's urine, it is important that you take proper actions on it.

This dark and decrepit factory was once used to make deadly experimental chemicals. One of the workers contracted a grim virus and the company denied any responsibility. The ill worker quit her job once she started to physically mutate. As time went by, she returned to the factory a half-human creature driven mad and craving human blood to survive. In an orgy of bloodshed, she maliciously slaughtered all of her co-workers. The vile creature disappeared and the factory was shut down. Since then, there have been several disappearances around the area but no proof anything happened...until now!

Normal Blood Glucose Levels - What Are Normal Blood Sugar Levels?

What are normal blood glucose levels is a concern for those who might have a blood sugar issue or have been diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes. Hopefully, you are lucky enough to have your blood sugar levels under control. If you or someone you know is having problems in this area, read on. We will explore what normal blood sugar levels are.

What is glucose? Glucose is a form of sugar that travels through the human blood stream. It usually enters your body in the form of foods high in carbohydrates. You can regulate glucose levels through the body's use of insulin and glucagon hormones which are produced by the pancreas. The problem arises if the pancreas is unable to generate the proper amount of glucose to keep your body in check.

Normal blood glucose levels typically register between 70 and 150 mg. The level in someone's body will change during the day and is affected by many factors including what time of day it is as well as what your most recent meal was (or was not). There is danger associated with levels either below or above the range. If your level is below 70, you most likely have a condition called hypoglycemia or more commonly called low blood sugar. Other symptoms of hypoglycemia include lack of energy, focus and irritability. You can even lose consciousness if your glucose is too low.

If the level of sugar in your blood is over 150 mg, then you are considered to be hyperglycemic, also more commonly known as having high blood sugar. If you have persistent high sugar, then you are at risk for diabetes which can result in serious organ damage to your eyes, kidneys and other organs. If you do not have normal blood glucose levels, you should take all necessary steps to reverse the condition.

There are a variety of tests available to check for glucose levels.

1) The "fasting blood sugar" test evaluates glucose levels after a fast - typically 8 hours long. This is why most people take this test the first thing in the morning (where their blood sugar would not be impacted by eating, drinking). If the test results for the blood fall between 70 and 99, the patient is considered to be at a normal range.

2) The "2 hour postprandial" blood glucose test evaluates sugar levels exactly two hours after eating. If the results for this blood test are between 70 and 99, the patient is considered to have normal glucose levels.

3) Random blood glucose testing tests sugar levels all through the entire day - regardless of food consumption, activity, exercise or sleep. For this test, the blood glucose result level should fall between 70 and 135.

4) The glucose tolerance test is performed where the patient drinks a liquid that is mostly made up of glucose. The purpose of the test is to see the blood's reaction immediately after a high amount of sugar is consumed and then released into the blood.

Brooke Fraser - Hosea's Wife

Hosea's Wife by Brooke Fraser I just spoke silence with the seeker next to me She had a heart with hesitant, halting speech That turned to mine and asked belligerently "What do I live for?" I see the scars of searches everywhere I go From hearts to wars to literature to radio There's a question like a shame no one will show "What do I live for?" We are Hosea's wife We are squandering this life Using people like ladders and words like knives [CHORUS] If we've eyes to see If we've ears to hear To find it in our hearts and mouths The word that saves is near Shed that shallow skin Come and live again Leave all you were before To believe is to begin There is truth in little corners of our lives There are hints of it in songs and children's eyes It's familiar, like an ancient lullaby What do I live for? We are Hosea's wife We are squandering this life Using bodies like money and truth like lies [CHORUS] [Bridge] We are more than dust That means something That means something We are more than just Blood and emotions Inklings and notions Atoms on oceans

Blood in Cat Stool - Causes and Treatment

The sight of blood in cat stool can be extremely upsetting, especially if it's your cat. The first thought that comes to mind is what is causing this and is my cat dying. You never saw blood in cat stool before and you want to do something fast. Before you grab your cat to take her to the vet, here are some things you should know.

In addition to the blood, your cat seems to have a hard time defecating. It is almost like she is constipated causing her to strain while trying.

Your cat seems to have an ever-lasting thirst and the water bowl is the most important thing to her. Excess drinking is part of the problem coupled with a loss of appetite for food.

Due to the large amount of water intake, frequent visits to the litter box takes place to urinate and for bowl movements.

You will notice that your cat is not her usual self. She doesn't have any energy to play and acts listless or lethargic. Her lack of appetite causes weight loss. You must pass these other symptoms on to the vet.

What is the cause of blood in cat stool and all the other symptoms that go with it? The first thought comes to mind is that your cat might have fallen from a high place causing an internal injury. Although not likely, this is a possibility.

Your cat's blood may have a slow clotting time disorder. Just a little bump or bruise can cause bleeding seen in her stool.

Your cat might have gotten into the garbage and ate something she is allergic too that irritated her intestines causing inflammation and bleeding. This condition is called colitis.

Your cat might have ingested poison the exterminator put down for mice or rats. Some of these poisons are designed to cause internal bleeding when eaten by mice.

Bleeding or blood in cat stool is definitely caused by hook worms that in-bed themselves in the walls of the intestines or tumors in the colon or rectum. Lastly, a bacteria infection can be the cause.

The best remedies for blood in cat stool are:

Start feeding a high fiber low fat diet with quality protein. Discontinue feeding processed food and canned foods containing chemical preservatives. No table scraps. If her stool test shows worms of any kind especially hook worms, have her wormed.

If infection is found that has caused blood to be present in your cat's stool, the convention way to treat an infection is with a 7 to 10 day course of antibiotic. The problem with treating your cat with antibiotics is that they have side effects and can actually worsen your cat's symptoms and increase your pet's chance of having recurring problems.

It's important to understand that antibiotic suppress the symptoms but do not cure them. This is why pet owners are turning to natural remedies. Natural remedies work at the cellular level to heal blood in cat stool and they are safe and effective without the dangerous side effects that are present with the use of antibiotics plus that, natural remedies can be used for preventative measures all year round.

When choosing natural remedies make certain you get the ones with proven long time history of effective ingredients such as uva ursi, berberis, cantharis and staphysagris.

High Blood Pressure in Infants

If you are under the impression that high blood pressure or hypertension is a condition limited to adults, think again. Newborns, infants and teenagers could also suffer from hypertension. It is estimated that nearly 5% of kids may have high blood pressure and the chances of a newborn having high blood pressure is unfortunately on the rise.

Newborn babies usually have high blood pressure when they are born pre-term or they have congenital problems with the heart or the kidneys. It has been noticed however that when kids have high blood pressure usually there is a family history of such conditions and/or coupled with a poor lifestyle including bad diets, obesity and inadequate physical activity.

High blood pressure in infants are however, caused by premature birth or they have problems with other organs like the kidneys, lungs, heart or even their vascular system. Premature babies are often born with a condition called broncho-pulmonary dysplasia, which is essentially immaturity of the lungs.

These babies many also have problems like coarctation of the aorta, which means that the major blood vessel which carries blood to the heart is narrowed. High blood pressure in infants could also be due to a blood clot in a kidney blood vessel.

Other causes include side effect of some medications, exposure to hallucinogenic drugs like cocaine while in the womb, some types of tumors, genetic problems or issues related to the thyroid gland functioning. Newborn babies are supposed to have blood pressure as 64/41 and it rises as the baby grows. So an average baby between one-month to 2 years would have the blood pressure reading as 95/58. Slight variations from these figures should not be a matter of concern but more than this medical help should be sought immediately.

Though high blood pressure symptoms are mostly absent from infants but there could be symptoms of the condition that is responsible for the high blood pressure or HBP. These include bluish or pale skin, zero weight gain or growth, frequent urinary tract infections, rapid breathing etc.

Other common symptoms when the infant has very high blood pressure could be easy irritability, vomiting, troublesome breathing and even seizures. To be sure that the infant has indeed HBP, the only way is to measure the blood pressure, which for infants is done using an automatic device.

For instance, if the HBP is due to coarctation of the aorta, the pulses in the legs could be reduced. Other tests to diagnose high blood pressure in infants include angiography, lab tests of blood and urine, X rays of chest and abdomen, ECG and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

Treatment for high blood pressure in infants largely depends on the cause behind the condition and may include: drug therapy, dialysis or surgical intervention like transplantation or coarctation repairing. The recovery rate for the infant would again depend on the cause.

For instance, whether the baby is born with other health problems or there has been any damage done resulting from high blood pressure etc. Possible complications could include failure of the heart or kidneys, seizures or any other organ damage.

As a parent you ought to be alert when to seek medical help and these would be when you notice your baby is not gaining weight or has bluish skin, suffers from urinary tract infections often and seems irritable all the time.

Unfortunately there is no way that high blood pressure in infants can be prevented. However there are some steps one can take to reduce the risk of such conditions. For instance, take the advice of a doctor before becoming pregnant, if you have a family history of congenital heart disease, hypertension or kidney disease. Also if you are on medication, taking them during pregnancy may also harm the baby and cause such situations to develop. Thus it is best to consult the doctor before you decide to become a mother.

Incidentally, a study done in the Netherlands involving 450 babies was done, and reported in the August 1, 2007 issue of Insider medicine confirms that babies born to smokers have a high chance of developing high blood pressure. The study also confirmed that babies born to smokers were considerably smaller and shorter compared to those born to non-smokers.

Control Blood Clotting Naturally With Food

Natural methods may be the best way to reduce the risk of blood clotting. Recent studies suggest that a change in lifestyle that includes a diet high in power foods that thin the blood and fight clots is the best medicine for people who have experienced previous blood clots and people who have never had a blood clot.

Blood Clotting

When a blood vessel is injured it bleeds. A mass of matter - blood cells and other components - form to help stop the bleeding. This mass is sometimes compared to a scab.

Blood clots become dangerous when the blood vessel is broken. If this occurs, the blood platelets become tacky or sticky and mound together. This mound of sticky platelets stops the blood.

Most blood clots are not dangerous. They form and prevent the body from losing too much blood. When their job is done they dissolve and the body heals. Blood clots are dangerous when they occur in healthy blood vessels. Blood clotting can also be dangerous if they do not dissolve after stopping the bleeding in a broken vessel.

The most severe blood clot is the embolism. This type of blood clot causes the blood flow to become blocked. It can lead to fatal consequences. Embolisms can occur in blood vessels or arteries. For example, an embolism in the brain will cause cerebral damage. An embolism in the coronary artery may cause a heart attack.

Blood Clotting and Food

Different factors lead to blood clotting. Genetics and medical conditions can play a role in the development of blood clots. While a person cannot control these factors he can control others such as his diet. A person's diet can have a big effect on whether or not blood clotting will happen.

Cholesterol and saturated fats, the two big 'no-no's in the food world, lead to blood clotting in the blood vessels and arteries. A person who eats foods high in cholesterol and saturated fats puts himself at a high risk for heart disease. The American Stroke Association has more information on the effects of bad cholesterol on blood clots.

Nutrients including omega-3 fatty acids, vegetables, fruits, and fish are important for a heart healthy diet. It is important to design a diet that includes a balance of nutrients and antioxidants to prevent blood clotting.

To reduce the sticky-ness of platelets add some hot sauce to your egg whites. Hot sauce, hot peppers, onions, ginger, and cayenne all work to keep blood platelets from becoming sticky and massing together.

Fatty fish contain omega-3 fatty acids. These wonder-nutrients lower cholesterol and are extremely heart friendly. The American Heart Association encourages everyone to eat at least 2 portions of cold water fish like salmon or tuna every week.

Flaxseeds are another source of omega-3s. Certain omega-3 fatty acids are found in plants, not fish. This is true with flaxseed. Soluble fiber and omega-3s help reduce cholesterol.

Soy is a mega power food according to many doctors. It is a great way to reduce bad cholesterol and heart disease. The FDA now includes 25 grams of soy protein daily as a part of a low cholesterol, low saturated fat diet.

Chocolate is the new kid on the block. Scientists are discovering the blood clot busting powers of dark chocolate to the delight of chocolate lovers everywhere. In addition to chocolate fresh fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and potatoes all prevent cholesterol oxidation that would otherwise lead to blood clotting.
