Forecasters are warning that temperatures are set to plunge this evening with parts of Scotland likely to see lows of minus 20. An Ayrshire mum is appealing for more people to donate blood. Fiona Griffin needed half her blood replaced in March after giving birth to her baby boy. She's asking people to add blood donation to their list of things to do this Christmas. Traditionally donations fall by 20 percent at this time of year but the current weather means the blood transfusion service expect stocks to plummet further. A new museum dedicated to the life and works of our national bard will open to the public tomorrow. The 21 million pounds Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway, houses an extensive collection of aretfacts and documents relating to the poet. It replaces the former museum which will now be used as an education centre.

Dundee & Tayside - Tuesday, November 30, 2010
Blood donors are being urged to roll up their sleeves as the severe weather and festive party season threaten supplies. Dozens of donor sessions have been cancelled in Tayside this week.... just as the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service makes its annual winter appeal. A ward at Dundee's Ninewells Hospital has been closed to new admissions following several cases of what's thought to be the winter vomiting bug. The closure of Ward 6 to new patients is a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the Norovirus bug. A flood awareness campaign targetting 15000 homes and businesses has been launched in Tayside and Fife. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency is encouraging those who're living or working in " at risk " areas to be aware of how flooding might affect them. They also want people to make sure they know what action they need to take to protect themselves and their property.
